India Witnesses Unprecedented Development Alongside Poor Welfare in 12 Years

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, has asserted that India has achieved remarkable progress across welfare initiatives, infrastructure development, and economic growth over the past twelve years under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's leadership. The minister highlighted how the nation is witnessing the parallel realization of poverty alleviation efforts alongside massive developmental strides.

In a statement issued on June 9, 2026, Shah detailed several high-impact schemes and projects, emphasizing that this transformation is only possible with focused national intent and complete dedication from the leadership. He noted that Prime Minister Modi took the oath for his third consecutive term on this day.

Massive Boost in Infrastructure Development

The government has overseen a dramatic acceleration in India’s infrastructure capabilities. Shah cited the launch of over 90 new airports nationwide, significantly boosting connectivity and national reach. Furthermore, more than 140 Vande Bharat trains have been introduced across the country, enhancing domestic rail travel capacity.

Road network development is also extensive. The statement confirmed that the government has built 1.45 lakh kilometres of roads and over 3,000 km of modern expressways, underscoring a concentrated effort to improve transportation and logistics networks.

Strengthening the Social Safety Net

Crucial focus has been placed on the socio-economic security of citizens. The ministry noted that free ration is being provided to 80 crore people, providing stability at the grassroots level. This commitment extends to housing, with pucca houses provided to more than 4 crore poor families.

In the health and energy sectors, the nation has seen significant growth. Health insurance coverage equivalent to ₹5 lakh has been extended to 50 crore people. Additionally, LPG connections have reached more than 10 crore families, contributing to domestic stability and energy access.

Economic Ascendancy of India

Shri Amit Shah underscored that the cumulative impact of these policies is helping position India globally. He stated that under PM Modi’s guidance, India has transitioned into being the fastest-growing major economy in the world.

The overall narrative presented by the Union Home Minister suggests a comprehensive developmental model where economic prowess and social equity are advanced simultaneously across the nation. This integrated approach aims to serve both robust national development goals and the fundamental welfare needs of its citizens.
