Transforming सूरत: Major Project Inaugurations Signal Surge in Industrial and Eco-Friendly Growth

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today inaugurated and laid foundation stones for a series of transformative development projects in Surat, Gujarat. These initiatives span the critical road, power, and industrial sectors, collectively valued at over ₹18,800 crore. The move underscores a massive commitment to enhancing 'Ease of Living' and driving sustainable growth across the nation.

Addressing the gathering, the PM lauded Gujarat’s citizens for their steadfast support following local body elections. He emphasized that these projects are part of a larger mandate: building a Viksit Gujarat and achieving Viksit Bharat by developing every village and city in India.

Cementing Environmental Leadership through ‘Waste to Wealth’

The Prime Minister specifically noted the significance of the event coinciding with Environment Day, commending Surat for its exceptional commitment to cleanliness. He recalled the city's historic struggle with plague epidemic and celebrated its current standing as a recognized clean urban center.

Surat is highlighted as a prime example of balancing progress with nature through innovative approaches. The PM detailed the 'Circular Water Economy,' which utilizes wastewater for industrial use, alongside the successful nationwide 'waste to wealth' movement spanning twelve years. This commitment also includes approving the Tapi Barrage Project, securing future drinking water and drainage needs.

Bolstering Energy Security and Green Industrialization

In response to global conflicts and volatile supply chains—which the PM termed a "decade of disasters"—the Prime Minister praised the resilience of 140 crore Indians. Gujarat received special recognition for its heavy contribution to India's energy self-reliance objectives.

The state is responsible for producing one-fifth (50 GW) of the nation’s total 250 GW renewable energy capacity. Furthermore, Surat is poised to lead in emerging green sectors such as Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia. The PM outlined historic investments in solar power, railway electrification, nuclear energy, and modernizing transmission networks.

Advancing Infrastructure for Aatmanirbhar Bharat

The Prime Minister detailed the government’s focus on mega-connectivity projects designed to bolster self-reliance. These include the Dedicated Freight Corridor, the Bullet Train, and a newly inaugurated section of the Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway.

Industrial hub Hazira was addressed not just as an industrial zone but as a comprehensive Maritime-Industrial Hub vital for global trade. The PM strongly condemned those who question national resolve, asserting that dependence on foreign entities prevents a country from achieving true development heights. This drive is being inclusive, providing four-lane highways to tribal belts like Chhota Udepur and Narmada, reducing freight costs while unlocking access to healthcare and education.

Fostering Social Well-being with New Amenities

Inaugurating a modern ESIC hospital in Surat, the Prime Minister connected these major developmental milestones to the trust placed in the government by the nation's electorate. The project aims to provide essential healthcare to workers and migrant families from across states.

Concluding his address, he celebrated the boundless optimism of Indian citizens. He expressed absolute confidence that with a resolved national workforce, no goal remains unachievable for building a fully developed India.
