Donald Trump Calls on Global Powers to Send Warships to Keep Strait of Hormuz Open

Trump Urges Countries to Support Maritime Security in West Asia

United States President Donald Trump has said he hopes several major economies will deploy warships to the West Asia region to help keep the Strait of Hormuz open and secure.

In a statement posted on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said that multiple countries affected by Iran’s attempted closure of the strategic waterway may join the United States in maintaining security in the region.

“Many countries, especially those who are affected by Iran's attempted closure of the Hormuz Strait, will be sending warships, in conjunction with the United States of America, to keep the Strait open and safe,” Trump wrote.

Appeal to Major Economies Including China, UK, and France

Trump specifically mentioned several countries that he hopes will participate in the effort. These included China, France, Japan, South Korea, and the United Kingdom.

He stated that nations affected by what he described as an artificial constraint on the waterway should consider sending ships to the region.

“Hopefully, countries like China, France, Japan, South Korea, the UK, and others, that are affected by this artificial constraint, will send ships to the area so that the Strait of Hormuz will no longer be a threat from a nation that has been completely defeated,” he said.

Claims on Iran’s Military Capability

In the same statement, Trump claimed that the United States has already destroyed what he described as Iran’s entire military capability.

He said that despite this, Iran could still attempt limited actions in the waterway.

According to Trump, such actions could include sending drones, dropping mines, or launching short range missiles along or within the Strait of Hormuz.

Warning of Continued US Military Action

Trump also said that the United States would continue military operations in the area.

He stated that the United States would bomb the shoreline and shoot Iranian boats and ships out of the water if necessary.

“One way or another, we will soon get the Strait of Hormuz OPEN, SAFE, and FREE!” Trump said in his statement.
