HCLFoundation and Pearson Launch Discovery Science Center in Bengaluru for STEM Education

HCLFoundation, the corporate social responsibility entity of global technology company HCLTech, and Pearson have launched a new Discovery Science Center in Bengaluru. The initiative aims to provide underserved students with hands-on access to science and technology learning experiences through a dedicated Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) lab.

The newly established Discovery Science Center is designed to equip underprivileged students with critical thinking, creativity, and innovation skills. The center will deliver immersive, application based learning experiences, supported by year round interventions such as workshops, STEM competitions, and clubs. Through these efforts, the program is projected to reach over 1,500 students annually, helping to foster curiosity, early innovation skills, and problem solving abilities.

This launch expands the strategic partnership between HCLTech and Pearson for building skills through AI powered technology. The move follows a similar center previously launched in Noida that offered hands-on STEM learning to underserved communities.

Vishaal Gupta, India Chair and President of Enterprise Learning & Skills at Pearson, emphasized the importance of accessible learning opportunities. "Every student should have the opportunity to explore science and technology through hands on learning," he stated. "This center gives students in underserved communities a place to explore, build skills and unlock what they can do. Through our work with the HCLFoundation, we are focused on expanding access to quality learning where it is needed most."

Nidhi Pundhir, Senior Vice President and Global Head of CSR at HCLTech, described the partnership as an opportunity for shared purpose. "This partnership demonstrates what is possible when technology expertise, the science of learning and grassroots execution come together," she said. She added that by strengthening digital learning ecosystems and embedding inclusion at the core, they are building pathways for underserved learners to access quality education and build skills for the future.

The collaboration has a history of impact in the region. Earlier this year, HCLFoundation and Pearson supported 400 students from underserved communities. This support included providing smart classrooms equipped with smart boards and laptops. To ensure inclusive learning, tailored assistive devices were provided to children with special needs, including those with visual impairments, allowing them full participation in the classroom. This initiative successfully created a community centered learning ecosystem that merges corporate expertise with on ground impact by helping children enroll in and remain in school.
