Balrampur Foundation Launches Women-Focused 3D Printing Skill Development Program

Balrampur Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Balrampur Chini Mills Limited, has launched a specialized initiative designed to equip young women with advanced manufacturing skills. The program, titled 'Building Skills. Transforming Futures - Balrampur Bioyug Bioplastic 3D Printing Project,' is being held in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh.

The skill development program was established in collaboration with Balrampur Bioyug, a vertical of Balrampur Chini Mills Limited, and ITI Mohammadi. It focuses on introducing young women ITI students to cutting-edge 3D printing technology using Bioyug PLA. VAP 3D has joined the initiative to serve as the knowledge and technical partner.

The program is designed to provide practical, hands-on learning, digital skills, and application-based training, aiming to foster both industrial employment and opportunities for small-scale entrepreneurship among women, thereby promoting economic independence.

Avantika Saraogi, Executive Director of Balrampur Chini Mills Limited, emphasized the technology's role in transformation. She stated that "Technology-led skilling has the power to transform lives and create meaningful opportunities for young women." Saraogi noted that 3D printing is rapidly growing across industries globally, creating demand for future-ready manufacturing skills. Through this initiative, the company aims to give women ITI students hands-on exposure to technologies like 3D printing using Bioyug PLA, building capabilities that can support employment and participation in home-scale industries.

Training and Implementation Details

The program structure involves a Train-the-Trainer (TTT) model, led by VAP 3D. The trainers underwent intensive learning sessions covering machine assisted tools to ensure the project's technical capability and sustainability. They also trained in slicing software, Bambu Studio, and basic design using TinkerCAD.

The pilot batch for the student training program includes 20 girl students. The training will concentrate on practical applications, hands-on learning, employability, and participation in advanced manufacturing.

The project infrastructure at ITI Mohammadi has been fully operationalized and includes advanced 3D printers, laptops, Bioyug PLA materials, dryers, enclosures, and supporting equipment. The two trainers leading the program are Mr. Sonu Prajati and Ms. Rachna Kumari.
