Government-to-Government Partnership Drives Global Placement as 14 Skilled Indians Depart for Mauritius

Government Mobility Boosts Global Placement of Indian Talent

A significant step towards structuring global workforce migration has been marked as Minister of State (Independent Charge) Shri Jayant Chaudhary flagged off a contingent of 14 skilled Indian workers bound for Mauritius. The departure represents the effective implementation of the India-Mauritius Government-to-Government (G2G) Labour Mobility Framework.

This initiative strengthens bilateral cooperation between the two nations and aligns with India's larger agenda for skilled international workforce mobility. These workers, who represent a diverse cross section of Indian talent, are heading to Mauritius to commence employment under this structured government framework.

The placement follows initial successful deployments of earlier batches of Indian professionals. The ongoing program is robustly supporting youth across the country and currently has 33 additional candidates undergoing documentation and work permit processes for international roles.

Scope and Reach of the Labour Mobility Framework

The India-Mauritius labour mobility partnership operates under a Memorandum of Understanding on Employment of Workers, which was officially signed between the Republic of India and the Republic of Mauritius in May 2023. This framework is designed to ensure ethical recruitment, transparency, and adherence to international labor standards for all participants.

The selected workers represent a pan-India presence, hailing from seven different states. The group includes six candidates from Uttar Pradesh, two each from Bihar and Himachal Pradesh, along with one candidate each from Manipur, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab.

The expertise of the departing candidates is varied, covering retail operations, logistics management, customer service, hospitality roles, and various technical trades. This diversity showcases the breadth and quality of India's skilled labor pool.

Work Opportunities in Mauritius

These specialized talents will be joining Super U Mauritius, one of the nation's leading retail chains. The opportunities created span multiple functions within the retail sector. Roles available include Cashiers, Cooks, Electricians, and Shelf Workers.

The assignments encompass operations management, inventory control, customer service provision, food preparation duties, and essential electrical maintenance tasks. These positions offer stable long-term career pathways for the workers involved.

Compensation and Program Commitment

The contracts offered in Mauritius are comprehensive, providing a three-year employment duration. The annual compensation package is set at approximately ₹4 lakh to ₹4.5 lakh. This remuneration is supplemented by several critical benefits designed to ensure worker welfare.

Additional entitlements include company-supported accommodation, local transportation allowance, coverage for overtime work, full medical coverage, and all necessary statutory working permits. These opportunities emphasize the commitment of the program to providing safe and transparent overseas employment pathways.

The initiative underscores the growing international recognition of Indian talent and highlights the necessity of industry aligned skilling. By supporting this movement, India is strengthening its position as a reliable global talent partner and advancing workforce readiness.
