Cargo Matters to Invest ₹66 Crore in EV Charging Network Across South India

Plans 550+ Smart, Solar-Integrated Charging Stations

Mumbai, March 17
Logistics operator Cargo Matters on Tuesday announced an investment of ₹66 crore to establish more than 550 smart grid-enabled and solar-integrated electric vehicle charging stations across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala.

The company has partnered with EV charging infrastructure provider TRYK Charge Services LLP to execute the project, aiming to strengthen charging infrastructure for both commercial logistics and passenger mobility.

Focus on High-Capacity Fast Charging Infrastructure

As part of the rollout, the network will feature 360 kW DC fast chargers designed to support heavy-duty commercial vehicles, alongside standard AC charging options. The infrastructure will adhere to global standards, addressing growing demand for reliable and high-performance charging solutions.

Umesh Padala, Founder and Chairman of Cargo Matters, highlighted the importance of infrastructure in scaling electric logistics. He said the key challenge is no longer vehicle availability but the lack of dependable, high-capacity charging systems along freight corridors. The ₹66 crore investment is aimed at strengthening operational capabilities and accelerating the transition to electric commercial transport.

Integrated Platform to Enable Real-Time Monitoring

The charging network will be managed through a comprehensive Charge Point Operator platform, offering features such as real-time analytics and remote monitoring. This system is expected to enhance operational efficiency and provide better visibility into network performance.

Unified Ecosystem and Expanded Access

In an effort to streamline the fragmented EV charging landscape, Cargo Matters will also onboard existing third-party chargers onto its platform. This move is intended to improve utilization while creating additional revenue opportunities for independent charger owners.

Additionally, the company, in collaboration with TRYK Charge Services, will introduce an RFID-based charging card to enable single-tap access across all stations, simplifying the user experience.

Kulbhushan Gawande, CEO of TRYK Charge Services, said the partnership will enable large-scale deployment of advanced charging technology, including ultra-fast 360 kW DC chargers. He added that the initiative aims to build a unified ecosystem catering to both commercial fleets and individual EV users through a seamless platform.
