EKI Energy Services Registers First Verra Plastic Waste Reduction Project in Bangladesh, Expands Global Portfolio
EKI Energy Services Limited, a leading global Carbon Credit Developer and Supplier, has announced the successful registration of its Plastic Waste Reduction Project in Bangladesh, Phase I, with Verra. This achievement marks the first registered plastic waste reduction project in Bangladesh, signaling a strategic expansion of EKI's solutions across international markets. The initiative is registered under Verra’s Plastic Waste Reduction Standard, establishing a critical move for EKI as it reinforces its portfolio focused on plastic waste recovery, recycling, and circular economy solutions. This successful registration highlights the company’s growing presence in emerging environmental markets and strengthens its role as a global Carbon Credit Developer and Supplier.
Addressing the growing challenge of plastic pollution requires redirecting financial resources toward activities that improve waste management systems. The project adheres to Verra's rigorous monitoring, verification, and certification processes. By doing so, it aims to generate Plastic Credits, which will help increase plastic waste collection and the supply of recycled plastic feedstock, thereby preventing valuable materials from entering landfills or leaking into the environment.
The expansion into South Asia represents a strategic move for EKI to implement structured approaches to plastic waste recovery and contribute to more circular material flows in the region.
Commenting on this significant development, Mr. Manish Dabkara, Chairman and Managing Director of EKI Energy Services Limited, stated that the registration serves as an important milestone in the company's journey of expanding environmental solutions globally. He noted that while plastic waste is a worldwide challenge demanding structured systems for recovery and collection, taking EKI's experience gained from developing a plastic project in India to Bangladesh strengthens their ability to support circular economy development and create opportunities for environmental finance.
Mr. Dabkara added that EKI plans to continue exploring opportunities to develop and scale credible plastic waste reduction projects across various geographies, contributing meaningfully to practical solutions for plastic pollution while supporting the growth of environmental markets.
The successful registration reflects the continued evolution of EKI’s global operations. The company, founded in 2008, offers sustainable solutions for climate change and carbon offsets with global standards, including CDM and VCS. EKI is currently present in over 16 countries and serves more than 3,500 clients across over 40 nations worldwide. To date, the company has supplied more than 200 million offsets, having also established a record by becoming the first company to list a plastic project from India with Verra.
