Deepak Chem Tech Approves ₹2,500 Crore Project for Bisphenol A Manufacturing

The Board of Directors of Deepak Chem Tech Limited (DCTL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Deepak Nitrite Limited, has approved a significant project aimed at manufacturing Bisphenol A (BPA). The facility is planned to have a capacity of up to 240 KTA.

The approval includes investment in related greenfield infrastructure and capital expenditure for the manufacturing complex. An approximate investment of ₹2,500 Crores was sanctioned by the DCTL Board, with the final figure expected to be confirmed upon the completion of detailed engineering studies. The project will be financed through an appropriate blend of debt and equity.

Beyond the BPA initiative, the DCTL Board has also greenlit two other major ventures: establishing India's first Polycarbonate resin manufacturing plant, leveraging Trinseo technology and associated asset acquisition, as well as a Phenol & Acetone manufacturing plant.

The addition of the BPA project is set to establish a highly integrated manufacturing platform for Deepak. This integration spans the entire value chain, starting from Cumene through Phenol & Acetone, BPA, Polycarbonate resin, and downstream compounding.

In addition to fulfilling captive requirements necessary for the manufacture of Polycarbonate resins, the new BPA facility will enable Deepak to participate in the rapidly growing Indian market segment dedicated to Bisphenol A, which is used extensively in the production of Epoxy resins.
