Deepak Nitrite's Board Approves Major Project for Bisphenol A Manufacturing
The Board of Directors of Deepak Chem Tech Limited (DCTL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Deepak Nitrite Limited, has approved an ambitious project aimed at manufacturing Bisphenol A (BPA). This new capacity will stand up to 240 KTA and is backed by an investment totaling around ₹2,500 Crores, which encompasses the related greenfield infrastructure capital expenditure. The approval for the BPA facility allows Deepak Nitrite Limited to significantly expand its integrated manufacturing capabilities across the chemical value chain. The project investment is subject to confirmation upon the completion of detailed engineering and will be financed through a mix of debt and equity.
Expanding Integrated Chemical Platform
The establishment of the Bisphenol A capacity complements DCTL’s existing strategic projects. The Board has previously cleared the setting up of India's first Polycarbonate resin manufacturing plant, which leverages Trinseo technology and associated asset acquisition, along with a Phenol Acetone manufacturing plant. With the addition of BPA to its portfolio, Deepak is moving toward establishing a highly integrated manufacturing platform. This platform spans the entire value chain—from Cumene through to Phenol & Acetone, Bisphenol A (BPA), and Polycarbonate resin, including subsequent downstream compounding activities.
Beyond fulfilling captive requirements for the production of Polycarbonate resins, the new BPA facility positions Deepak to actively participate in the rapidly growing Indian market segment for Bisphenol A used in the manufacturing of Epoxy resins.
