Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Launches Project GANGA with HGS to Connect 20 Lakh Households in Uttar Pradesh
Lucknow, India, June 9, 2026: The formal launch of Project GANGA, a large-scale digital inclusion and social upliftment initiative for the state, was announced by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Sh. Yogi Adityanath. The launch followed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in March 2026 between the State Transformation Commission (STC), Government of Uttar Pradesh, and OneOTT Intertainment Ltd. (OIL), the broadband vertical of Hinduja Global Solutions Ltd. (HGS).Project GANGA, which stands for 'Government Assisted Network for Growth & Advancement', aims to build a robust, scalable digital backbone across Uttar Pradesh. The initiative is designed to extend high-speed broadband connectivity to over 20 lakh households within the next two to three years. Broadband services offered under this project will be known as 'Ganga Fiber'.
The project is set to generate significant economic opportunities and drive social change in the state. It aims to onboard between 8,000 and 10,000 local entrepreneurs at the Nyaya Panchayat level, empowering them as Digital Service Providers (DSPs). Furthermore, Project GANGA is expected to create over 100,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities across the digital ecosystem, with a strong focus on youth and women empowerment.
The official Project Ganga portal (www.projectganga.in) is now operational, enabling citizens, particularly women, to apply and participate in the initiative to build sustainable livelihoods in the emerging digital economy. DSP partners will receive support through structured onboarding, technology enablement, and financing assistance under the CM-YUVA scheme.
The initiative aligns with the Chief Minister's vision to ensure access to quality digital education, healthcare, remote work opportunities, and other critical services for citizens, especially in communities that are poorly connected.
Commitment to Digital Growth
