Astra Microwave Plunges as Q1 Results Reveal Steep Decline in Profit and Revenue​

Shares of Astra Microwave Products faced significant selling pressure on Monday, August 10, following the announcement of its first quarter (Q1FY27) financial results. The aerospace and defence sector player saw its stock decline sharply amid reported dips in both profit and revenue figures.

The company's shares tumbled during intraday trading, hitting a low of up to 8.96% to Rs 1,675 apiece. Despite the immediate pressure, exchange data indicates that Astra Microwave has managed a 75.48% gain year-to-date from its previous levels.

As of the closing figures, Astra Microwave was quoted at Rs 1,727.70 apiece at 2:57 PM, reflecting a 6.10% drop from the prior day's close. This move occurred as the benchmark NSE Nifty50 traded slightly down by 0.06%, settling at 24,555 points.

Financial Hit in Q1FY27: Profit and Revenue Take Decisive Blow​

The exchange filing revealed that profit attributable to the owners saw a considerable decline of 24.10% in Q1FY27. This quarter's consolidated figure stood at Rs 12.34 crore, compared to Rs 16.26 crore reported during Q1FY26.

Revenue from operations also experienced a setback, declining by 11.54% year-on-year (YoY). The company generated Rs 176.66 crore in revenue for the quarter under review, down from Rs 199.72 crore reported in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.

Despite the operational challenges, Astra Microwave successfully managed its expenses, which fell by 8.97% YoY to Rs 166.3 crore from Rs 182.7 crore. However, Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortisation (EBITDA) declined by 17.6%.

Operational Margins and Management Transition Announced​

The company's EBITDA stood at Rs 33.7 crore in Q1FY27, marking a reduction from the previous year's figure of Rs 41 crore. Concurrently, the EBITDA margin percentage stood at 19%, a slight decrease compared to the 20.4% recorded one year earlier.

Beyond the financial results, Astra Microwave announced a key management transition. S. Gurunatha Reddy will cease to be the Managing Director and Director of the company effective from September 30, 2026.

M. V. Reddy, who is currently serving as Joint Managing Director, has been designated to take over as Managing Director. This leadership change is scheduled to be effective starting October 1, 2026.
