All Personnel Retrieved in Samardung Tunnel Incident; Patel Engineering Ltd. Pledges Ex-Gratia Assistance
Patel Engineering Ltd. has confirmed the conclusion of rescue operations at the Samardung Tunnel (Teesta VI) project, following a tragic incident. The company announced that all bodies of the 25 personnel who were trapped inside the tunnel have been successfully retrieved.The complex rescue operation was executed through the coordinated efforts of numerous agencies. These included the Sikkim District Administration, Sikkim Police, state hospitals and paramedical staff, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), State Authorities, Eastern Coalfields Limited, Western Coalfields Limited, NHPC team, Patel Engineering's project team, and other emergency response agencies.
In response to this unfortunate incident, Patel Engineering Ltd. has committed immediate support to the affected families. The company will provide ex-gratia assistance of ₹ 5 lakh to the next of kin for each deceased in the incident.
