ZF CVCS India Secures ESC Business Nominations from Three OEMs for Domestic Truck Safety Mandate

ZF Commercial Vehicle Control Systems India Limited has secured business nominations from three leading Indian commercial vehicle Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). The contracts pertain to multi-year domestic programs, solidifying the company's role as India prepares for new safety standards in the trucking industry.

The nominations cover the provision of Electronic Stability Control (ESC) solutions across 24V and 12V truck platforms. These systems are designed to support upcoming vehicle programs that are required to meet India's mandatory ESC safety regulations, with production scheduled to commence in the third quarter of 2027.

In a significant move reflecting growing demand for advanced active safety systems, ZF CVCS India will locally assemble and supply all the necessary components from its Indian manufacturing facilities. This market opportunity arises as Electronic Stability Control (ESC) is set to become mandatory for trucks across India starting October 1, 2027, aligning domestic industry practices with global safety benchmarks.

Product Reliability and Market Penetration

The ESCsmart™ solution, designed specifically for commercial vehicles, assists drivers in maintaining vehicle stability during demanding operational conditions. It automatically intervenes when vehicle stability approaches a critical threshold, thereby reducing the risk of rollover, skidding, and jack-knifing in truck-trailer combinations.

ESCsmart™ is already proven within Indian operating environments. The technology has been deployed on more than 60,000 vehicles. This implementation benefits from ZF's extensive global expertise, backed by over 3 million systems delivered worldwide and more than 20 years of ESC specialization.

Akash Passey, Non-Executive Chairman, ZF Commercial Vehicle Control Systems India Ltd and President - ZF Group in India, stated that the nominations reinforce ZF CVCS India's leadership in active safety. He added that these commitments reflect OEMs prioritizing proven technologies to enhance vehicle stability as India enters a defining phase of commercial vehicle safety.

Strategic Importance of ESC technology

Globally, Electronic Stability Control is recognized as one of the most effective active safety measures for mitigating crashes related to loss of control and rollovers in heavy commercial vehicles. This adoption marks a crucial step toward standardizing high-level safety features within India's large truck fleet.

Paramjit Singh Chadha, Managing Director of ZF Commercial Vehicle Control Systems India Ltd, noted that these business nominations highlight the growing momentum toward advanced active safety systems. He emphasized that with its proven ESC platform and local manufacturing capability, ZF CVCS India is prepared to assist OEMs in meeting upcoming safety requirements through scalable, industry-ready solutions.
