A serious incident occurred at the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Waste to Energy (WtE) Plant operated by Antony Waste Handling Cell Limited. The facility experienced structural damage after a waste mound outside the plant destabilized and collapsed onto the administration building.

Emergency response efforts were initiated immediately following the event. Personnel from various agencies, including the Fire Brigade, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), a squad from the Indian Army, Senior Officials of the Company, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) officials, and local Disaster Response Teams, responded to the site.

Preliminary information indicates that the incident was triggered by unprecedented weather conditions and continuous heavy rainfall in the region, which led to the destabilization of a waste mound located outside the facility premises. The collapse caused damage to the administration building.

The company confirmed that efforts are underway to search for and assist any individuals who may have been trapped under debris. Officials stated they are working closely with relevant authorities to ascertain the number of persons injured or affected.

Antony Waste Handling Cell Limited reported that a limited number of operating personnel were present at the time of the incident, as the plant was undergoing a scheduled maintenance shutdown. Management confirmed that no immediate material impact on the Company's operations has been identified at this stage.

The company is dedicating resources to support ongoing rescue and relief operations, offering assistance to the Municipal Corporation, local administration, emergency response agencies, medical aid for the injured, and support for affected families.
