Vivek Nishant Nath Appointed Director (Commercial) on NMDC Steel Limited Board
NMDC Steel Limited has appointed Shri Vivek Nishant Nath as Director (Commercial), effective from July 15, 2026, following an order issued by the Ministry of Steel, Government of India. The appointment is for a term of five years or until further orders, whichever occurs earlier.Shri Nath joins the NMDC Steel Limited board, bringing over three decades of experience in the mining and metals industry. His expertise spans international commercial operations, procurement, logistics, sales, marketing, and supply chain management. Shri Nath began his professional journey with NMDC in 1992, spending nearly fifteen years serving the company in various commercial roles within domestic iron ore sales and marketing.
Before moving to OMC (Odisha Mining Corporation Limited), he held key positions at Essar Steel Limited and ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India. He subsequently joined OMC as General Manager (Sales & Marketing) in 2021. In 2024, he was promoted to Chief General Manager (Sales & Marketing) at OMC. During his tenure at OMC, Shri Nath drove growth in iron ore sales and revenue through logistical reforms, transparent pricing mechanisms, and customer-centric initiatives.
Under his leadership at OMC, the company achieved significant increases in iron ore sales. Sales grew from 12.33 million tonnes in FY 2020-21 to 38.26 million tonnes by FY 2025-26.
Recognized as an industry professional, Shri Nath is an author of over 11 research papers focusing on mining and metals sector issues. He has been invited as a keynote and guest speaker at major national and international industry forums, including SGX, Fastmarkets, SMM, and IMARC. Academically, he holds an MBA in International Business from Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies, Pune, and completed a Management Development Programme in Business Administration and Management from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indore.
NMDC Steel Limited confirmed that Shri Nath has no relationship with any other director on the board, and he is not debarred from holding directorial office by virtue of any SEBI order or other authority.
