Uno Minda Enters 4W Passenger Vehicle Seating Systems; Announces Greenfield Plant in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar with ₹320 Crore Investment​

Uno Minda Limited, a global technology leader in automotive components and systems manufacturing, has announced a significant strategic expansion into the Four-Wheeler (4W) Passenger Vehicle Seating Systems segment. To support this new high-value product line, the company's Board of Directors has approved the establishment of a state-of-the-art greenfield manufacturing facility located in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad), Maharashtra.

The proposed capital expenditure for this venture is approximately 320 crore. The new facility is scheduled to commence operations by Q4FY28.

Strategic Leap into Complete Seating Systems​

This expansion marks Uno Minda's decisive entry into complete 4W Passenger Vehicle Seating systems, which represents a major step up the automotive value chain and signifies higher revenue per vehicle for the company. The project will be executed under Uno Minda Tachi-S Seating Private Limited, a Joint Venture (JV) established with TACHI-S Company Limited, a leading global automotive seating manufacturer.

The partnership between Uno Minda and TACHI-S began in September 2022, initially focused on manufacturing and marketing seat recliners for passenger vehicles. The current expansion demonstrates the company's readiness to operate in a larger scale of the market.

In validation of this strategic move, the joint venture has already secured an anchor customer order from a leading Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), demonstrating that Uno Minda’s capabilities meet the stringent standards required by top Indian automakers.

Management Perspective on Growth​

Mr. Ravi Mehra, Managing Director of Uno Minda Limited, highlighted the significance of this development, stating that entering the complete 4W Passenger Vehicle Seating Systems segment is a strategic leap and not merely a product expansion.

He added that the greenfield facility reflects Uno Minda's commitment to advanced domestic manufacturing, aimed at delivering high-performance seating comfort required by India's rapidly evolving automotive market.

UNOMINDA Stock Price Movement​

Today, shares of UNO Minda Limited shed 1.05% in post-market trading, settling at ₹1129.20 after a decline of ₹12.00. The stock recorded a total traded volume of 528,204 shares during the session.
