TVS Electronics Ltd is involved in material pending litigation concerning the interpretation of basic wages by the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) and related tribunals. The dispute covers the assessment period from April 2014 to June 2015 before the Central Government Industrial Tribunal – CUM-Labour Court, Chennai.

The litigation centers on EPFO including certain allowances for provident fund contribution purposes in connection with employees whose basic wages were below the statutory wage ceiling.

Regarding the financial aspects of the dispute, the company noted that the differential PF contribution amount due to this interpretation difference was paid during 2020.

Tribunal Ruling and Appeals Process​

In the matter of damages, the Hon'ble Industrial Tribunal – CUM-Labour Court, Chennai granted partial relief, reducing the damages from ₹23.24 Lakhs to ₹12.78 Lakhs. Of the awarded amount, ₹6.00 lakhs has already been deposited. The expected financial implication related to this matter is reported as ₹12.78 Lakhs.

The company has continued its legal challenge by filing a Writ Petition before the Hon'ble Madras High Court in the first appeal, seeking further relief against the damages awarded by the tribunal.
