Tata Power Company Limited, a major player in India's power sector, reported a strong financial performance for the fourth quarter and the full financial year ending March 31, 2026. The company announced a Reported Profit After Tax (PAT) of ₹ 1,416 crore for Q4 FY26, marking an 8% year-over-year (YoY) increase. For the full fiscal year 2026, the Reported PAT reached an all-time high of ₹ 5,118 crore, up 7% YoY.

The robust performance was attributed to strong operational efficiency and robust business performance across its diverse verticals.

Key Growth Drivers in Clean Energy​

The company's Renewables business demonstrated particularly strong momentum. In FY26, the Renewable Cluster reported an EBITDA increase of 44% to ₹ 6,228 crore and a PAT increase of 59% to ₹ 1,994 crore.

  • Solar Manufacturing: The Solar Cell and Module Manufacturing segment saw its PAT grow to ₹ 857 crore in FY26, up 103% YoY. This growth was driven by achieving an industry-leading yield of more than 95% and the production of 3,825 MW of modules and 3,759 MW of cells.
  • Rooftop Solar: The Rooftop Solar segment's PAT rose to ₹ 499 crore in FY26, an increase of 150% YoY, supported by crossing over 3.7 lakh installations and achieving 1.7 GWp in rooftop installations in FY26.
  • T&D Business: The Transmission & Distribution (T&D) vertical recorded a PAT of ₹ 2,978 crore for FY26, rising 49% YoY.
  • Odisha DISCOMs: The Odisha Distribution Companies (DISCOMs) reported a PAT of ₹ 809 crore in FY26, growing 84% YoY.

Operational Milestones and Regional Collaborations​

The company continues to expand its clean energy footprint and operational network.

Renewable Capacity and Solar Expansion:
Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) has expanded its renewable portfolio to 11.6 GW, including 5.1 GW under construction. TPREL also received board approval for an investment of approximately ₹ 6,500 crore in a photovoltaic ingot and wafer manufacturing facility of 10 GW, aiming to boost self-reliance in solar manufacturing.

Distribution and Transmission:
  • The Transmission Portfolio now stands at 7,403 Ckm, comprising 5,562 CKm of operational lines and 1,841 Ckm of under-construction projects.
  • The company successfully completed two major Transmission projects (NRSS XXXVI Transmission Ltd & South East U.P. Power Transmission Company Ltd), adding 1,823 Ckm of cumulative transmission lines.
  • The EV Charging business surpassed 2 lakh home EV charger installations in FY26. The nationwide charging network grew to over 7,000 public and semi-public charging points, covering 706 cities and towns.

Major Projects and Partnerships:
  • The company recorded a first disbursement of ₹ 500 crore from PFC for the 600 MW Khorluchhu Hydro Power Project in Bhutan.
  • Tata Power and DGPC's clean energy collaboration crossed the 5,000 MW mark with the identification of the 404 MW Nyera Amari I & II Integrated Hydropower Project.
  • The Mundra SPPA successfully signed with GUVNL, and the Ministry of Power issued fresh directions permitting plant operations from April 1, 2026, to June 30, 2026.

Tata Power Company Limited shares today slipped by 3.28%, shedding ₹14.20 to settle at ₹418.4. The stock saw notable activity, with 6.82 million shares transacting during the session, indicating sustained selling pressure among investors.
