Tata Elxsi Launches ViTel™, AI-Powered Material Intelligence Solution for Med-Tech

Tata Elxsi Launches ViTel™, AI-Powered Material Intelligence Solution for Med-Tech

Tata Elxsi, a global design and technology services firm, has announced the launch of ViTel™, a Material Intelligence solution designed specifically for the medical device manufacturing sector. The solution was co-developed with Viridium AI, a material intelligence platform company, and was formally introduced during DeviceTalks Boston 2026.

ViTel™ aims to help medical device manufacturers protect margins, accelerate sourcing and engineering decisions, and improve compliance through advanced AI-powered material intelligence.

Medical device manufacturers currently face an operating reality where material decisions impact margin, resilience, product velocity, and market access. However, critical product knowledge remains fragmented, buried across various enterprise systems including Bills of Materials (BOMs), supplier documents, ERP and PLM systems, and specialized expert teams. This dispersion of knowledge makes addressing new regulations or customer requirements a costly manual exercise.

ViTel™ addresses this challenge by establishing a reusable Material Intelligence layer across the entire enterprise. The platform assists teams in identifying material and supplier dependencies, assessing country-of-origin and sourcing exposure, evaluating alternative materials, and understanding how product or material risks impact cost, continuity, or market access.

Powered by Viridium AI’s robust technology stack, including the Knowledge Cloud, Chemical Digital Twin, and science-constrained AI models, ViTel™ transforms scattered enterprise data into a living product-material knowledge graph. This graph connects key entities such as products, parts, materials, chemicals, suppliers, regulations, and evidence.

The solution leverages Tata Elxsi's three decades of expertise in Med-Tech engineering and regulatory standards, embedding this deep domain knowledge into the system’s reasoning capabilities concerning material risk, compliance, and sourcing decisions. The collaboration integrates Tata Elxsi’s design-led and AI-first engineering, deep domain expertise, and global healthcare access with Viridium AI’s technological platform innovation.

Speaking on the launch, Sreevatsa Sahasranaman, Senior Vice President and Head, Healthcare and Life Sciences, Tata Elxsi, stated that ViTel™ brings Material Intelligence directly into the product and compliance workflows that are most critical, enabling customers to make faster and more confident decisions across sourcing, engineering, quality, and regulatory readiness.

Niraj Deo, Chief Executive Officer, Viridium AI, explained that Viridium AI was built to help manufacturers understand the material DNA of their products. He noted that once product and material knowledge are digitized, it becomes a reusable enterprise asset for critical decisions related to margin, sourcing, engineering, quality, and regulatory readiness.

The partnership is structured through STEP UP, Tata Elxsi's co-innovation program for high-potential deep-tech companies.
