Sun Pharma Commits MFN Pricing to US Government, Securing Two-Year Tariff Delay

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Limited (Sun Pharma) and its affiliated companies announced agreements with the U.S. government at a White House ceremony, focusing on improving access to medicines for American patients.

Sun Pharma committed to implementing Most Favored Nation (MFN) pricing for state Medicaid programs. The company also pledged MFN pricing for all future innovative medicine launches. In recognition of Sun Pharma’s investment in the U.S. market, the agreements include delaying Section 232 tariffs on innovative pharmaceutical products for over two years.

"Our mission is to reach people and touch lives by providing quality medicines across a patient's entire treatment journey, from consumer health products to generics to innovative medicines," said Rick Ascroft, North America CEO of Sun Pharma. Ascroft noted that the United States is a critical area of investment and expansion for the company, spanning clinical development, sales and marketing, and the manufacturing of both Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) and finished products.

The U.S. represents Sun Pharma's largest market for innovative medicines and forms a cornerstone of its long-term growth strategy, contributing approximately 27% of the company’s global revenue.

Sun Pharma built its U.S. presence starting with high-quality generics, which has been complemented by a focus on innovative and specialty medicines. The company currently ranks second by prescriptions in U.S. dermatology and is actively expanding its presence across dermatology, immunology, cutaneous oncology, and ophthalmology.

The company’s portfolio includes a robust consumer health products and generics business. Sun Pharma’s global Innovative Medicines portfolio accounts for about 22% of company sales, covering products in dermatology, ophthalmology, and oncodermatology.

The company’s commitment to the U.S. market was previously highlighted by the definitive agreement to acquire Organon & Co. at an enterprise value of $11.75 billion. Sun Pharma continues to focus on its mission of expanding access to high-quality, affordable medicines globally.
