Styrenix Reports Q1 FY27 Results Amid Market Volatility, Highlights Strategic Expansion

Styrenix Performance Materials Ltd has reported its unaudited Standalone and Consolidated Financial Results for the first quarter of Fiscal Year 2027 (Q1 FY27). The results were presented against a backdrop of significant challenges in the global polymer industry.

In the company's commentary, Mr. Rahul R. Agrawal, Managing Director, noted that Q1 FY27 saw considerable disruption across global supply chains due to geopolitical developments around the Strait of Hormuz, leading to heightened volatility in the pricing and availability of energy and key raw materials.

The Managing Director stated that Styrenix successfully navigated these disruptions through a strategy focused on diversifying sourcing and reducing reliance on any single geography. He added that while rapid changes in input costs led to temporary demand moderation, especially in the non-OEM segment, the company's long-standing partnerships provided a competitive advantage. Looking forward, the company confirmed that its expansion plans are progressing, anticipating the commissioning of the first phase of ABS capacity augmentation within the current financial year.

Financial Performance: Q1 FY27 Standalone and Consolidated

The standalone performance showed improvement in EBITDA margin compared to previous periods. The consolidated results reflected a robust operation while factoring in the acquisition of Styrenix Performance Materials (Thailand) Ltd, which was effective from January 2025.

Strategic Growth and Operational Landscape

The company's operational strength is built on a diversified product portfolio, including ABSOLAC (ABS), ABSOLAN (SAN—transparent styrenics polymer), STYROLOY (advanced polymer blends), ASALAC (weather-resistant ASA), and general purpose PS grades.

A key strategic move was the acquisition of INEOS Styrolution (Thailand) Company, completed in January 2025. This acquisition provided significant operational advantages, including a boost to the product mix with high-margin unique ABS grades used in refrigeration liner applications, and access to additional geographies. The Thai facility boasts manufacturing capacities of 85,000 TPA for ABS, 1,00,000 TPA for SAN, and 31,000 TPA for HRG Rubber.

In addition to the international expansion, the company maintains a strong domestic foundation with multiple production units across India, including units in Dahej (Unit III) and Nandesari (Unit IV). The organization has an R&D Centre established since 1995, dedicated to innovation, color development, and certified testing infrastructure.

Company History and Foundation

The journey of Styrenix began in 1973 when Mr. Rakesh Agrawal incorporated ABS Plastics Ltd. The company’s growth trajectory includes several major expansions: increasing ABS capacity to 20,000 TPA by 1996, scaling up both ABS and SAN capacities by 2005-2012, and acquiring PS business from BASF in 2013.

A significant milestone occurred in 2025 with the acquisition of Ineos Styrolution (Thailand) Company. The company's vision remains centered on delivering excellence and becoming a preferred global supplier of high-performance polymer raw materials.
