Segment Performance and Operational Insights

The sewing machine category showed considerable strength, with trade channel growth exceeding 25% in Q1. The e-commerce channel grew by over 55%, attributed to product expansion and market share gain. The cast iron sewing machine category saw a significant surge of around 95%. Furthermore, the AZZ sewing machines continued a strong upward trajectory with over 20% growth.

In contrast, the appliance segment reported business growth of 15% during Q1 versus LYQ1, driven by portfolio expansion in trade and e-commerce. The company noted that the decline in the appliance category, despite revenue growth, is being managed through organizational strengthening for market expansion into new product categories and fan business, alongside managing higher EPR costs.

The company reported improvements in Industrial Machine gross margins by 15% during Q1. Strategically, Singer India reduced its dependence on the low-margin modern trade channel to sustain overall profitability within the appliance segment.

Strategic Focus and Growth Drivers

Singer India continues to leverage extensive distribution and a pan-India service network as key growth drivers. The company maintains over 10,000+ sales points and operates 455 service points across India for both categories.

The operational focus includes expansion of the e-commerce channel, portfolio expansion within high selling sewing machine categories, and introduction of new portfolios in high growth potential appliance categories. The company also highlighted key initiatives aimed at bolstering the trade channel through dealer engagement schemes.
