Industry Trends and Challenges

The apparel industry continued to witness trends favoring profitable expansion. Consumers are consolidating spending toward trusted brands offering consistent value. Peers in the sector are focused on inventory discipline and controlled discounting over sheer volume.

However, the market faced several headwinds during the quarter:
  • Consumer Sentiment: Demand weakened materially from mid-May as households became cautious about discretionary spending.
  • Cost Pressures: Geopolitical tension in West Asia drove volatility in freight and fuel costs, which was compounded by adverse currency movements and state-level minimum wage increases, all pressuring input costs across the apparel sector.

The industry, however, maintained a constructive outlook for the second half of FY'27, anticipating demand strengthening through the festive and wedding season.
