Business Growth Metrics: Core Shipping vs. Emerging Services
Shiprocket reports significant divergence in growth across its business segments for the year ended March 2026. The newer businesses, which encompass advertising, checkout, and cross-border services, grew a robust 65 per cent. This rapid acceleration significantly outpaces the 14 per cent growth recorded by its core shipping business. The emerging segment contributed Rs 538.7 crore to Shiprocket's total revenue, amounting to about 27 per cent of the company's overall revenue. This is a marked improvement from roughly 18 per cent contribution two years prior. Overall revenue for the company rose approximately 24 per cent to reach Rs 2,024 crore.
The platform maintains an asset-light model, operating through a scalable technology platform supported by a network of ecosystem partners. Shiprocket defines itself not merely as a courier company but as a comprehensive technology solution for online sellers. The company earns revenue based on around 6 per cent of the merchandise value processed on its platform, a figure that may increase as merchants leverage more services.
Financial Health and Operational Segments
The IPO prospectus indicates substantial improvement in financial health, with net loss narrowing to 3.91 per cent of revenue in FY26, down from about 45 per cent in FY24. Net revenue retention for the company stood at 107.81 per cent in FY26.Shiprocket operates two distinct segments: Core Business and Emerging Business. The core business focuses on domestic shipping platforms and shipping apps, providing end-to-end solutions like multi-modal transportation, AI-based logistics allocation, order management, and tracking tools within India.
The emerging segment offers a wider range of services designed to help merchants scale operations. These include cargo and fulfilment services, cross-border shipping, advertising and marketing solutions, capital solutions, and hyperlocal deliveries.
IPO Allocation and Future Funding Plans
A substantial portion of the offer is reserved for qualified institutional buyers (QIBs), with 75 per cent designated for this category. Additionally, 15 per cent has been set aside for Non-Institutional Investors (NIIs), leaving 10 per cent for retail investors. The funds generated from the fresh issue component are earmarked to support platform growth. This includes investments in marketing initiatives and strengthening technology infrastructure across both the core and emerging businesses. A portion of the proceeds will also be used toward repaying or prepaying specific borrowings and associated interest payments. The company plans to deploy funds towards inorganic growth through potential acquisitions and general corporate purposes.
Shiprocket's shares are scheduled for listing on the BSE and NSE on August 19. The book-running lead managers for the issue include Axis Capital, BofA Securities, JM Financial, and Kotak Mahindra Capital Company, with KFin Technologies acting as the registrar.
