Molbio Diagnostics IPO Surges into Market with 15% Grey Premium; Analysts Weigh In on Growth Play

Molbio Diagnostics, a leading point-of-care molecular diagnostics company, opened its Initial Public Offering (IPO) today, August 10, 2026. The stock is already commanding a noticeable market buzz, trading at a 15% grey market premium (GMP). This high valuation suggests strong investor expectations regarding the company's future trajectory and operational capabilities in the diagnostic sector.

IPO Structure and Pricing Details

The public issue is structured as a fresh issue of shares worth Rs 200 crore, coupled with an Offer for Sale (OFS) amounting to Rs 739.70 crore. The company has fixed its price band at Rs 768–Rs 807 per share. If the IPO is successfully subscribed at the upper end of this range, it is expected to raise approximately Rs 939.70 crore.

A significant component of the offering involves existing shareholders participating in the OFS. Key sellers include promoter entity Exxora Trading LLP (offering 18.11 lakh shares), corporate shareholder India Business Excellence Fund III and promoter shareholder Chandrasekhar Bhaskaran Nair.

Company Strength and Financial Performance

Established in October 2000, Molbio Diagnostics operates as a global molecular diagnostics provider, focusing on rapid diagnostic solutions for infectious and non-communicable diseases. The company is best known for its proprietary Truenat platform, a portable PCR-based system that delivers accurate test results within an hour, making it ideal for resource-constrained environments.

Financially, Molbio Diagnostics has demonstrated robust growth leading up to the IPO. In Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26), the company’s total income saw a sharp increase of 42% year-on-year, reaching Rs 1,455 crore from Rs 1,027 crore in FY25. Profit after tax (PAT) also improved by 18%, settling at Rs 164 crore compared to Rs 138.58 crore in the previous financial year.

Investment Outlook and Valuation Metrics

Analysts have advised subscribing to the issue, noting that Molbio Diagnostics’ valuation remains aligned with industry benchmarks. The company is notably being offered below the average P/E multiple of 64.9x among its listed peers, suggesting a relatively attractive entry point for investors.

The IPO received early backing from anchor investors, which invested Rs 281.5 crore ahead of the public offering. This demonstrates strong confidence in the company's market position and growth potential within the diagnostics space.

Allocation of Proceeds for Future Growth

Molbio Diagnostics plans to deploy nearly Rs 206 crore from the IPO proceeds specifically for expansion and infrastructure enhancement. A substantial part of these funds, amounting to Rs 125.12 crore, is designated for capital expenditure related to developing a research and development facility and its Centre of Excellence.

Furthermore, the company has allocated Rs 80.81 crore towards purchasing necessary plant, machinery, and equipment for its manufacturing facilities located in Goa and Visakhapatnam. The remaining funds are set aside for general corporate purposes.
