Sensex Surges 500 Points as IT Powerhouse and Reliance Momentum Drive Markets Higher

The Indian benchmark indices displayed significant resilience in early trade on Friday, climbing more than 0.5 percent to recover from a subdued prior session. This rebound was primarily fueled by a powerful rally in information technology stocks and strength in the heavyweights of the Nifty 50.

At 9:28 am, the Sensex climbed 475.12 points, representing a 0.62 percent increase to reach 77,661.99. Simultaneously, the Nifty 50 recorded a gain of 130.15 points, or 0.54 percent, positioning itself at 24,202.90.

The market's upward trajectory occurred despite a challenging breadth profile. Data shows that 1,047 shares were advancing against 1,792 declining, signaling that the current gains are concentrated within a select group of heavyweight stocks rather than across the broader market.

IT Sector Leads Market Rally on Earnings Optimism

The information technology sector emerged as the primary pillar of support for the benchmarks today. The Nifty IT index surged by 1.37 percent, establishing itself as the best-performing sectoral index during the early trading session.

Large-cap names within the tech space showed particular strength, with four majors featuring prominently among the top gainers. Tech Mahindra led the charge with a 2.7 percent rise, followed by Infosys at 2.04 percent and TCS gaining 1.5 percent. HCL Technologies also contributed to the momentum with a 1.47 percent increase.

Analysts suggest these gains reflect continued investor accumulation of export-oriented technology stocks. This buying interest comes on the heels of a strong start to the June-quarter earnings season for many major players in the space.

Reliance and Financials Provide Heavyweight Support

Reliance Industries played a pivotal role in the index recovery, gaining over 1 percent as investors positioned themselves ahead of its scheduled June-quarter earnings release later today. This movement provided a substantial lift to both the Sensex and Nifty 50 levels.

The financial sector also remained a steady source of support for the indices. The Nifty Bank index rose by 0.4 percent, while the Nifty Private Bank index recorded a 0.5 percent gain during the morning session.

Key Gainers and Notable Stock Movements

Jio Financial Services emerged as a standout performer today, jumping 4.5 percent to claim the top spot among Nifty gainers. Other significant contributors included Mahindra & Mahindra, Eicher Motors, Bajaj Auto, and Hindustan Unilever, all of which were trading over 1 percent higher.
