Schaeffler India Launches Social Innovation Fellowship 2026-27 to Empower Innovators Tackling India's Societal Challenges

Schaeffler India Limited, a leading motion technology company, has introduced the Schaeffler India Social Innovation Fellowship for 2026-27. This initiative is designed to recognize and support individuals developing innovative, sustainable solutions capable of creating meaningful social and environmental impact in India. Representing the company's dedication to inclusive progress through innovation, the fellowship marks its fifth year of operation.

The program aims to identify, mentor, and accelerate 10 high-potential social innovators from across India. A strategic focus is placed on identifying entrepreneurs operating out of Tier II, Tier III cities, and rural geographies. Fellows will receive financial grants, structured mentorship, industry exposure, and access to leading innovation ecosystems designed to strengthen and scale their solutions.

The 24-week cohort program is delivered by IIMA Ventures at IIM Ahmedabad, equipping participants with necessary capabilities in business development, impact generation, and investor readiness. Mr. Harsha Kadam, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Schaeffler India Limited, stated that the fellowship serves as a platform to nurture purpose-driven innovators, transforming bold ideas into scalable solutions addressing pressing developmental challenges in India.

Since its inception in 2021, the fellowship has supported over 41 early-stage social innovators across the country. These ventures have received assistance through financial support, mentorship, and entry into industry networks, with several fellows gaining national recognition and successfully attracting investments to scale their innovations.

Applications for the 2026-27 cohort are open starting July 15, 2026, and will close on August 31, 2026. Eligibility is extended to individual innovators, startups, and organizations (both for-profit and non-profit) aged between 18 and 35 years. Applicants must have functional prototypes and must be working toward solving critical development challenges in areas such as healthcare, agriculture, education, sanitation & WASH, clean energy, livelihoods, manufacturing safety, mobility, environment, and sustainability.

Selected startups will receive mentorship and learning opportunities from IIMA Ventures, ecosystem access, structured networking events, and a fellowship grant of Rs 2 Lakhs each. The selection process involves application screening, document verification, multistage evaluation, interactions with subject matter experts, and a final jury presentation before industry leaders.

The Schaeffler India Social Innovator Fellowship Program 2026 is implemented by IHFC (I-Hub Foundation for Cobotics) in partnership with India Accelerator, which serves as the program management and evaluation partner, while IIMA Ventures delivers the cohort mentorship and venture development program.
