SBI Funds Management Stock Plummets Below IPO Price One Week After Listing Amid Market Correction

SBI Funds Management shares dipped below its initial public offering (IPO) price on Thursday, continuing a trend of declines just one week after the company’s stock market debut. The plunge has tested investor confidence in the newly listed asset management firm.

The stock was trading at Rs 566.50 per share on the NSE at the time of reporting, marking a decline of 1.66 percent during the session. This move followed previous session's losses as well.

Stock Performance Since IPO Debut

While the company made its successful debut on July 21, the subsequent performance has been volatile. At listing, SBI Funds Management was priced at Rs 613.30 per share on the NSE, which reflected a premium of 6.85 percent over the IPO price. The stock had initially seen strong investor interest.

The entire IPO, valued at Rs 9,812.91-crore, was conducted within a pricing range of Rs 545 to Rs 574 per equity share. It had been subscribed 41.66 times between July 14 and July 16, indicating robust demand from institutional investors.

Declining Trend Highlights Market Pressure

Despite the premium listing, the stock has faced significant downward pressure in the post-debut period. Since July 22, the shares have declined in six of the seven trading sessions. This sustained downturn places scrutiny on the valuation metrics established during the IPO process.

The company had previously fallen below its IPO price in an earlier session before recovering partially to close at Rs 576.05 per share. The current trading level shows a divergence from the premium achieved upon listing.

Company Profile and Market Standing

Established in 1987, SBI Funds Management holds a significant position within the Indian financial sector. It is recognized as India's largest asset management company based on quarterly average assets under management (QAAUM).

As of March 31, 2026, the firm managed mutual fund assets totaling Rs 12.51 lakh crore. This impressive portfolio gives it a market share of 15.3 percent in the sector. The sustained professional performance contrasts with the recent stock price corrections.
