SBI Funds Management IPO Set for Massive Listing as Grey Market Premium Soars Ahead of Debut

Shares of SBI Funds Management are generating significant pre-market buzz, trading at a strong grey market premium (GMP) ahead of their stock market debut tomorrow, July 21. The bullish sentiment suggests a robust listing, attracting substantial investor interest in this IPO.

Grey Market Premium and Listing Potential

Current market tracking platforms like Investorgain and IPO Watch indicate that the GMP for the issue stands at Rs 103 per share. This preliminary valuation points toward a potential listing price of Rs 677, significantly above the upper end of the IPO price band, which was set at Rs 574.

IPO Subscription Details Surpass Expectations

The massive response to the Rs 9,813-crore initial public offering (IPO) during its subscription period, spanning from July 14 to July 16, was tremendous. The issue achieved an overall booking figure of 41.66 times.

A remarkable total demand, amounting to nearly Rs 2.98 lakh crore, established this IPO as India's fifth-largest by total bid value. The subscription success was largely driven by Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs), whose portion was subscribed at an impressive 140.11 times.

IPO Structure and Offer for Sale Details

The public issue operates entirely as an Offer for Sale (OFS). This means that the offering of 20.37 crore equity shares is being conducted by State Bank of India (SBI) and Amundi India Holding, rather than generating proceeds for the company itself.

As a result of this OFS structure, SBI Funds Management will not receive any funds from the sale of these particular shares during the IPO process. The public issue price band was set between Rs 545 and Rs 574 per share.

Company Profile and Future Outlook

SBI Funds Management has been operating since 1992 and serves as the investment manager for SBI Mutual Fund, which is a joint venture between SBI and Amundi. As of 2025, the company commands an estimated 15.5 percent market share within India's mutual fund industry.

The firm currently manages approximately Rs 16.32 lakh crore in assets under management (AUM). This solid portfolio demonstrates the established presence and operational scale of SBI Funds Management in the financial sector.
