Rizta Reaches 3 Lakh Unit Milestone, Fueling Accelerated Growth for Ather Energy
Bengaluru, May 11, 2026: Ather Energy, a leading electric two-wheeler manufacturer in India, announced that its family scooter, the Rizta, has crossed the 3 lakh unit sales milestone within two years of its introduction. Launched in April 2024, the Rizta, Ather’s first family scooter, has become the company’s largest volume driver, playing a pivotal role in expanding Ather's reach across newer markets and consumer segments. The model reached the 1 lakh unit sales mark within 11 months of its launch and crossed the 3 lakh unit mark in the subsequent 11 months, demonstrating robust consumer demand for family electric scooters. The Rizta was responsible for 76% of Ather’s total sales volumes in FY26.
Speaking on the milestone, Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer, Ather Energy, highlighted that the Rizta, positioned as a family scooter, has strongly resonated with family audiences nationwide. He noted that the scooter has helped Ather gain a leadership position in Southern India. Furthermore, the Rizta has significantly expanded the company’s market share in 'middle India,' achieving a 4X growth since its launch in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha.
Over the past two years, the Rizta has broadened Ather’s presence beyond Southern India. According to Vahan and Telangana Vehicle Online Sales data, Ather's market share in key regions showed substantial growth:
| Region | Market Share (Q1 FY25) | Market Share (Q4 FY26) | Growth |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maharashtra, Gujarat, MP, Chhattisgarh, Odisha | 4.1% | 17.3% | 4X |
Northern states, including Punjab, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh, also saw market share growth exceeding 3X during the same period. Today, the Rizta accounts for the majority of Ather's sales volumes across both these regions.
Product Appeal and Technology Enhancements
The Rizta has also successfully expanded Ather's customer base by bringing a larger proportion of family buyers into the electric vehicle (EV) category. Nearly 70% of Rizta customers are families with children, confirming the scooter's strong appeal for daily family usage.Built with comfort and practicality in mind, the Rizta features a large seat, spacious floorboard, and 56 litres of total storage capacity, which includes 34 litres of under-seat storage and a 22-litre frunk. For enhanced safety and confidence, the scooter integrates advanced features such as SkidControl™, theft alerts, and tow alerts.
Ather continues to enhance the ownership experience through consistent software updates. Notably, an over-the-air (OTA) update through its proprietary Atherstack 7 was rolled out in September 2025. This backward-compatible upgrade improved the user experience for all existing Rizta Z customers.
