
‘One Station, One Product’ Scheme Expands to 2,000+ Railway Stations
New Delhi, March 25, 2026 – The Centre’s ‘One Station, One Product’ (OSOP) initiative has expanded to over 2,000 railway stations, with around 2,326 outlets, benefiting more than 1.32 lakh people across India, according to official data released on Wednesday.The scheme showcases regional products and traditional crafts, highlighting India’s cultural diversity. For instance, Patna station features Madhubani paintings, while Tenkasi Junction promotes cane crafts.
At Asansol, handloom products and artifacts are attracting buyers, while Moore Market Complex railway stationshowcases cotton textiles and traditional attar perfumes.
In Balangir, handcrafted toys made by local Self-Help Groups (SHGs) are generating steady income, especially for women artisans. Similarly, Jaipur promotes Sanganeri print textiles, and Tatanagar Junction is helping local handicrafts reach a wider market.
The government said the initiative focuses on inclusion, supporting artisans, weavers, farmers, and SHGs who often lack access to formal markets, enabling them to scale their businesses and sustain traditional skills.
Beyond boosting local commerce, OSOP also enhances the passenger experience by offering authentic regional products as souvenirs, blending culture with travel.
Launched in the Union Budget 2022–23 and rolled out on March 25, 2022, after a pilot at 19 stations, the scheme provides dedicated retail spaces at railway stations. Stalls are allotted on a rotational basis at nominal charges to ensure wider participation.
As of October 2025, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) had made notable progress, with 112 stations hosting 135 operational OSOP outlets.
The initiative is emerging as a key driver of the ‘Vocal for Local’ movement, promoting grassroots entrepreneurshipthrough India’s vast railway network.
