
Paytm Shares Hit ₹1,400 as Institutional Investors Absorb Bulk Stake Sold by Elevation Capital Entities
Paytm (One 97 Communications) saw heavy trading volumes on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), closing at Rs 1,400, which registered a slight dip of 0.71 percent. The stock movements followed news of major block deals involving shares held by Elevation Capital and its affiliated entities.The transaction confirmed that three related entities—SAIF III Mauritius Company, SAIF Partners India IV, and Elevation Capital V—offloaded a substantial 2.3 percent stake in Paytm. These combined sales accounted for a total of 1.49 crore shares, transacted at an average price of Rs 1,367.8 apiece, amounting to ₹2,038.02 crore.

The bulk sale was managed across various affiliated entities that previously held stakes in Paytm. SAIF III Mauritius Company alone offloaded 97.43 lakh shares for ₹1,332.7 crore. Separately, SAIF Partners India IV sold 41.36 lakh shares worth ₹565.77 crore. Elevation Capital V completed the remaining sale, offloading 10.20 lakh shares in exchange for ₹139.55 crore.These entities, which are linked to the broader Elevation Capital structure, previously held combined stakes of 8.55 percent and 3.63 percent in Paytm before completing the transaction on August 4. The sale provides insight into the institutional movement within one of India's major fintech players.
Financial Giants Drive Purchase in Block Deals
The buyers for these significant block deals were a mix of mutual funds and major global financial institutions, indicating strong institutional interest despite the selling pressure. National Pension System (NPS) Trust emerged as the single largest purchaser, securing 30.2 lakh shares valued at ₹413.07 crore. Axis Mutual Fund was another key buyer, acquiring 27 lakh shares for ₹369.3 crore.Global and Domestic Investors Participate in Paytm Deal
The list of buyers also included several prominent global financial firms. Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs were among the institutions that absorbed a portion of the sold stock.
