Ola Electric Transitions to Dealer Network for Sales and Service Across India

Ola Electric Mobility Limited has announced a significant strategic shift in its market approach, opening its sales and service network to dealer partners nationwide. This move follows five years of building brand trust and establishing an EV customer base through company-owned stores.

The transition marks an evolution from Ola's initial growth model, which relied on internal retail outlets to build EV awareness and establish the company’s brand presence in India. Over the coming months, company stores will be retooled to function as experience centers for customers, while dealer partners are set to become the primary driver of local sales and service across the country.

Ola Electric stated that this decision comes after engaging with dealers across the nation, noting a strong response from the industry. Dealers have expressed confidence that their combination of local market expertise and Ola's robust product portfolio can accelerate both EV adoption in India and Ola’s sales growth substantially.

Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of Ola Electric, described the move as "a big shift in how we go to market," reflecting the maturity of the Indian EV industry. He explained that the initial phase of using company-owned stores was necessary to earn trust city by city. Now, as the category matures, he emphasized that dealer partners are essential for bringing EVs into every town and neighborhood, a scale that a company-owned network cannot replicate alone.

Opportunity for Dealer Partners

The new model presents substantial opportunities for interested partner organizations. Ola Electric is offering these dealers access to:

  • A brand established over five years in the market.
  • Significant recurring service revenue from India's largest EV two-wheeler installed base, which exceeds 1 million customers.
  • The full EV portfolio, encompassing scooters, motorcycles, and energy products such as Ola Shakti, with more energy products planned.
  • A dealer economics model specifically designed to ensure strong returns for partners.

Ola Electric anticipates that this program will achieve meaningful on-ground scale by Diwali 2026.

Senior Advisor Appointment

As part of the transition, BVR Subbu, formerly the President of Hyundai Motors India, has rejoined Ola Electric as a Senior Advisor to support the execution of this strategic shift. Mr. Subbu previously served on the company's board and has been a mentor to Aggarwal.

In addition to its expanding retail presence via dealer partners, Ola Electric continues to develop vertically integrated operations through its Ola Futurefactory in Tamil Nadu. The company maintains a direct-to-customer distribution network of over 4000 stores across India, alongside a strong online presence.
