NTPC Green Energy Limited Announces Issue of ₹2,500 Crore Unsecured Non-Convertible Debentures​

NTPC Green Energy Limited, a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has announced plans to issue unsecured nonconvertible debentures valued at ₹2,500 crore. The issuance is set for 09.07.2026 and will be executed through private placement.

The debentures carry a coupon rate of 7.27% per annum (p.a.) and have a tenor of 10 years, maturing on 09.07.2036. The Board of Directors had granted approval for this decision on 22.05.2026.

This debenture issue marks the company's first such issuance under the current board approval.

The proceeds generated from the debentures will be utilized for various corporate purposes. These include financing capital expenditure, which encompasses refinancing and recoupment of existing capital expenditures incurred by the Company. Furthermore, a portion of the funds will be dedicated to extending financial support for capital expenditure to its subsidiaries and joint ventures through inter-corporate loans, alongside other general corporate needs.

The unsecured nonconvertible debentures are proposed to be listed on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). The Debenture Trust Deed is planned to be executed as per prescribed requirements within the applicable timeframe.

NTPC Green Energy Limited shares today slipped by 2.56% to close at ₹92.67, reacting negatively against a pre-market decline. The stock saw a trading volume of 6.19 million shares during the session.
