Business and Project Updates

Energy Sector: Maamba Solar Energy Limited’s 100 MW solar project is scheduled to commence power flow and commercial revenue generation by September 2026. Concurrently, MEL's Phase II 300 MW project is slated for phased commissioning by July 2027. This timeline was set following challenges related to rising costs associated with supply chain disruptions in West Asia, impacting vessel movements, container availability, and critical equipment delivery schedules; however, MEL remains well positioned to manage the marginal increase in capital expenditure.

Mining: In Côte d'Ivoire, exploration at Nava’s 360 sq. km concession for manganese has yielded promising results, enabling progress toward obtaining an exploitation permit. The company continues its search for resources like Lithium and Tantalum across Africa to diversify its mining portfolio beyond coal.

Agribusiness Projects:
  • Nava Avocado Limited aims to complete all plantation activities across its divisions by the end of FY27 / Q1 FY 2028. Furthermore, the State-of-the-Art Packhouse is nearing commissioning in October 2026, well before the FY27 harvest season.
  • Kawambwa Sugar Limited's sugarcane plantation project is progressing successfully under pivot irrigation systems. Construction and infrastructure development are advancing rapidly, alongside supplies of sugar and power plant equipment from India. The entire integrated sugar cane estate, including co-generation of power and distillery, is expected to be commissioned by March 2028.
