
Midwest Energy Commences Commercial Production of 1.2 GWh Battery Energy Storage Systems in Bengaluru
Midwest Energy, the clean energy and technology arm of the Midwest Business House, has begun commercial production at its integrated 1.2 GWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing facility located in Bengaluru. The commissioning marks a significant step in expanding India's advanced energy storage manufacturing capabilities.The facility features integrated Cell-to-Container manufacturing, allowing the company to produce battery modules, trays, racks, and fully integrated containerised systems designed for commercial, industrial, renewable energy, and utility-scale applications. This milestone is particularly crucial as Battery Energy Storage Systems are increasingly vital in supporting reliable power supply and grid resilience amid accelerated renewable energy deployment.
Midwest Energy plans to focus on supplying these advanced BESS solutions across both domestic and international markets. The facility has been designed to meet globally benchmarked quality standards, ensuring scalability and high product reliability.

Soumya K, Director of Midwest Energy Limited, highlighted the role of indigenous technology in meeting India’s transition goals. He stated that Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) offer a reliable and fast deployable solution to address challenges such as grid instability, demand-supply mismatch, and supply uncertainties that arise from integrating renewable energy into the power grid.
"Through this facility, we are building indigenous capabilities to design, manufacture and deploy advanced energy storage solutions that are proudly designed and made in India," Mr. K said. He added that the company’s vision is to become a trusted long-term partner in supporting the country's clean energy transition.
Midwest Energy, which was formerly known as Midwest Gold Limited, operates as the technology and clean energy arm of the Hyderabad-headquartered Midwest Business House. The group specializes in diversified operations spanning mineral exploration, mining, processing, engineering, and advanced materials. Beyond BESS, Midwest Energy is expanding its capabilities in rare earth permanent magnet eco-systems, having established a commercial-scale magnet manufacturing unit with an initial capacity of 500 TPA, slated for expansion to 5000 TPA.
