Manipal Health IPO Explodes Past Expectations, Listing at 11 Percent Premium as Healthcare Sector Surges

Manipal Health Enterprises shares saw a strong debut in the primary market after their Initial Public Offering (IPO) listing on Wednesday. The stock debuted successfully, setting a premium significantly higher than grey market expectations which had projected a flat listing.

The company secured an impressive subscription rate of 4.92 times for its IPO between July 29 and July 31. This robust showing highlights strong investor confidence in the healthcare giant's growth trajectory.

Stellar Listing Performance Across Exchanges

The stock achieved different but solid premiums across both major exchanges. On the BSE, Manipal Health Enterprises was listed at Rs 655 per share, reflecting a premium of 11.02 percent over the issue price.

Meanwhile, on the NSE, shares were priced at Rs 652 per share, which translates to a 10.51 percent premium. The initial offering had been issued with a defined price band ranging from Rs 560 to Rs 590 per share.

Significant Fundraising and Investor Backing

The IPO was a successful capital raise, with the company garnering total funds of Rs 9,275.22 crore. A substantial portion of this funding came from anchor investors.

Manipal Health secured Rs 4,167 crore specifically from anchor investors, including prestigious names like Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and Allianz Global Investors Fund. This strong institutional backing reinforces the company's financial stability.

Use of Funds and Corporate Strategy

The funds raised are earmarked for strategic corporate needs rather than immediate expansion capital. The company plans to utilize Rs 5,378 crore from the fresh issue proceeds towards the repayment or prepayment of borrowings belonging to its subsidiary, Manipal Hospitals Pvt Ltd.

Additionally, a dedicated amount of Rs 574 crore is set aside for acquiring a minority stake in Sahyadri Hospitals Pvt Ltd. The remaining funds will be allocated toward general corporate purposes as outlined by management.

Overview of Manipal Health Operations

Manipal Health Enterprises operates an extensive pan-India network. The company's facilities encompass multispecialty hospitals, offering services that span from basic outpatient care to complex tertiary and quaternary interventions. This comprehensive service model underpins the strong demand seen in its market debut.
