Mr. C.S. Nopany, Chairperson of Magadh Sugar & Energy Ltd., commented on the results, noting that 'Bihar's sugar industry is witnessing renewed policy support. The state is concentrating on the revival and modernization of the sector through integrated Sugar, Ethanol, and Co-generation projects, supported by the Sugarcane Industry Investment Promotion Policy 2026, which aims to bolster processing infrastructure and enhance competitiveness.However, Mr. Nopany noted that higher sugarcane procurement costs continue to put pressure on mill margins. Consequently, improving sugar recovery, product realization, and earnings from by-products are critical for sustaining profitability in the sector.
The company is moving forward with strategic enhancements aimed at operational efficiency and quality improvement. The Narkatiaganj Sugar Plant is being modified from a sulphitation process to a refinery, which is expected to enhance sugar realizations and improve quality. Additionally, the installation of an incineration boiler at the Narkatiaganj Distillery Plant is projected to allow the distillery to operate for approximately 340 days annually, thereby strengthening operational efficiency and supporting higher capacity utilization.
