Matrimony.com Limited is pursuing legal action following a ruling by the Division Bench of the Madras High Court regarding the infringement of its mark Jodi365 by Free Elective Network Private Limited. The suit, which initially resulted in dismissal, has seen an appeal partially succeed against the company.The dispute originated when Free Elective Network Private Limited filed a Suit for Injunction and other reliefs against Matrimony.com Limited before the Madras High Court concerning the infringement of their mark Jodi365. This initial suit was dismissed by the Hon'ble High Court on July 14, 2022.
A subsequent appeal was filed by Matrimony.com Limited challenging this dismissal. The Division Bench of the Madras High Court issued an order dated August 11, 2026, which partially allowed the company's appeal, though it dismissed the relief requested for damages.
Following the court's decision, and based on legal advice, Matrimony.com Limited is currently contemplating filing a further appeal before the Hon'ble Supreme Court.
