Kanco Tea and Industries Reports Operations Update After Flood Incidents at Estates
Kanco Tea & Industries Ltd. has provided an update regarding the impact of flooding at its Bamonpookrie and Mackeypore tea estates, noting operational recovery in some areas while damage assessments continue in others.Regarding the situation at Bamonpookrie Tea Estate, the company reported that the water level has subsided. However, affected areas remain with a residual sludge measuring approximately one foot. An insurance surveyor is currently on site carrying out an initial assessment of the damage. A full evaluation of the loss and the necessary steps for recovery and restoration will follow further inspection.
In contrast, the situation at Mackeypore Tea Estate shows signs of operational revival. The water level has reduced sufficiently, allowing the company to resume the plucking of green tea leaves and the manufacturing of teas starting on 21/07/2026.
Kanco Tea & Industries stated that further updates regarding both estates will be provided in due course.
