JSW Steel Appoints New Senior Management Leaders as Executives Transition and Key Personnel Change Occur
JSW Steel Limited has announced key changes within its senior management structure, effective August 7, 2026. The company appointed two new leaders, while managing a transition in roles and addressing the cessation of a key executive position.The Board of Directors approved the appointment of Mr. P P Varma as Executive Vice President & Plant Head for Dolvi, Salav & Anjar. Concurrently, Mr. S M Kumar was appointed Sr. Vice President and Plant Head for Salem Works. These appointments were made following recommendations from the Nomination & Remuneration Committee.
Mr. P P Varma has a 39-year career in Steel Plant operations. He joined JSW Steel on May 31, 2004, and previously held roles such as Head of Iron and Agglomeration Zone and Chief Operating Officer for Dolvi Plant. Mr. Varma is an alumnus of IIT BHU (1987) with a Bachelors of Technology in Mechanical Engineering.
Mr. S M Kumar has 35 years of experience in Steel Plant operations. He joined JSW Steel on June 1, 2006. His diverse roles have included Customer Services, Market Development, Quality Assurance, and Operations & Maintenance. Mr. Kumar, who also participated in the "Future Fit Leaders" program at JSW Steel in 2017, holds a Bachelors of Technology in Metallurgy from IIT Madras (1991).
Key Senior Management Changes
The company also confirmed changes relating to the leadership roles within its senior management cadre.Mr. Ashish Chandra, President of Dolvi, Salav & Anjar Works, ceased being part of the Company's Senior Management due to his resignation, citing personal reasons and a desire to pursue career opportunities outside the JSW Group. While effective as of August 7, 2026, Mr. Chandra will be relieved from his duties with effect from close of business hours on August 31, 2026.
Additionally, Mr. B N S Prakash Rao has transitioned out of his role as Plant Head - Salem Works and has been appointed to the new position of Head - Centre of Excellence for Alloy Steel.
