
JSW Energy Commissions ~250 MW Renewable Capacity, Aims for 30 GW Generation by 2030
JSW Energy Limited announced the successful commissioning of approximately 250 MW of renewable energy capacity since April 2026. This achievement raises the company’s total installed capacity to 13.7 GW, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable power generation in India.The commissioned renewable capacity is broken down into three components: 130 MW from Wind power, 69.4 MW from Solar power, and 50 MW from the Tidong Hydro Plant.
The company noted that the commissioning of the Tidong Unit-I, following its acquisition in January 2026, occurred in a record turnaround time, highlighting strong execution capabilities and the ability to integrate acquired assets seamlessly. Furthermore, the remaining two units of the Tidong Hydro Plant are expected to be operational by June 2026.
Capacity Mix and Future Growth
JSW Energy's overall capacity structure shows that renewables contribute 59% of the total capacity. This mix includes 3,924 MW from wind capacities, 2,440 MW from solar capacities, and 1,681 MW from hydro capacity.The company possesses a total locked-in generation capacity of 32.1 GW, comprising 13.7 GW currently operational and 13.8 GW under construction. Additionally, JSW Energy has a pipeline of 4.6 GW planned for future development.
Looking ahead, the company plans to add approximately 3 GW of renewable capacity in the fiscal year 2027 (FY27) and anticipates a total capital expenditure (capex) of approximately ₹20,000 crores in the same fiscal year.
In terms of energy storage, JSW Energy currently has 29.6 GWh of locked-in capacity. This total is composed of 26.4 GWh from pumped hydro storage and 3.2 GWh from battery energy storage systems.
Long-Term Targets
The company has set ambitious long-term goals, aiming to achieve a generation capacity of 30 GW and an energy storage capacity of 40 GWh by 2030. Furthermore, JSW Energy has stated its goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.The company, which began commercial operations in 2000, has steadily enhanced its power generation capacity from 260 MW to 13.7 GW through the commissioning of various power projects.
