Jindal Stainless Hisar Unit Earns Platinum+ ZWTL Certification for Zero Waste Achievement

Jindal Stainless, a leading stainless steel manufacturer in India, has secured the Zero Waste to Landfill (ZWTL) certification with a Platinum+ rating for its Hisar unit. The recognition emphasizes the plant's commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable manufacturing practices.

The certification, which was verified by Bureau Veritas India Pvt. Ltd, highlights the Hisar unit's robust waste management framework. It underscores the facility's efforts in strengthening waste segregation, minimizing landfill disposal, and integrating sustainable waste management practices across its operations.

For the financial year (FY) 2024-25, the facility achieved an exceptional waste diversion rate of 99.99%. According to the assessment, which utilized the mass balance methodology, nearly all waste generated was effectively recycled, reused, or recovered, leaving negligible quantities designated for landfill disposal. This achievement demonstrates the unit's strong alignment with circular economy principles.

Jindal Stainless executives commented on the milestone. Abhyuday Jindal, Managing Director of Jindal Stainless, stated that responsible manufacturing is a core business imperative for the company. He noted that the certification reinforces the company's long-term resolve to build globally competitive, resource-efficient, and future-ready manufacturing ecosystems.

Vijay Bindlish, Unit Head - Hisar at Jindal Stainless, stated that reaching a 99.99% waste diversion rate is a significant operational milestone. He added that the Platinum+ certification motivates the team to advance environmentally conscious practices and drive higher efficiencies across the operations.

The ZWTL certification is a globally recognized benchmark that evaluates how effectively an organization eliminates landfill disposal through reduction, reuse, recycling, and recovery initiatives. The Platinum+ rating signifies the highest level of performance, reserved for organizations achieving near-total waste diversion.
