IndiGo Implements Fuel Charge Revisions Amid Rising ATF Costs

National, April 1, 2026 – IndiGo announced revisions to its fuel charges on both domestic and international routes, effective April 2, 2026, at 00:01 hours. The changes are a response to a significant increase in Air Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices.

According to IATA’s Jet Fuel Monitor, fuel prices for the region have risen by over 130% on a month-on-month comparison. In a move to mitigate the impact on air travelers and the aviation industry, the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG) and Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) have decided to pass on a partial and staggered increase of 25% to airlines for domestic operations.

As a result of this, IndiGo has adjusted its domestic fuel charges, varying based on travel distances. The revised charges per sector are detailed below:

RoutesRevised Fuel Charge (in INR)
0 - 500 kms275
501 - 1,000 kms400
1001 - 1,500 kms600
1501 - 2,000 kms800
Above 2,000 kms950

For international operations, where ATF prices have more than doubled in the last month, IndiGo has implemented revised fuel charges per sector, as follows:

IndiGo stated that while fully offsetting the fuel price increase would necessitate substantial fare revisions, the airline has passed on a relatively smaller amount to customers to minimize the impact.

IndiGo operates around 2200+ daily flights, connecting 95+ domestic and 40+ international destinations, and welcomed 124 million customers in calendar year 2025. The airline was recognized as the 'Best Airline in India and South Asia' by Skytrax at the World Airline Awards 2025 and was also named the sixth Most Punctual Airline in Asia-Pacific in 2025 by Cirium.
