New Delhi, January 19, 2026InterGlobe Aviation Limited (IndiGo) has received multiple directions from India’s civil aviation authority following a review of widespread operational disruptions witnessed between December 3 and December 5, 2025. The actions include financial penalties totalling ₹22.2 crore, a directive to furnish a ₹50 crore bank guarantee, and warnings issued to several senior executives.

Financial Impact: Penalties and Bank Guarantee

As part of the orders, IndiGo has been levied a one-time systemic penalty of ₹1.8 crore for operational non-compliances. In addition, a further penalty of ₹20.4 crore has been imposed for continued non-compliance with revised flight duty and time limitation norms over a 68-day period, aggregating the total monetary penalty to ₹22.2 crore.

Separately, the airline has been directed to provide a bank guarantee of ₹50 crore under a structured systemic reform assurance framework. The release of this guarantee will be phased and linked to verified implementation of corrective operational measures.

The Senior Vice President overseeing the Operations Control Centre has been warned and directed to be relieved of current operational responsibilities, with instructions that no accountable position be assigned going forward.

Additional warnings were issued to officials across flight operations and crew resource planning functions for supervisory and roster management lapses.

Operational Status
