
PM Modi Invites Global Investors to Power India’s Energy Growth at Bharat Electricity Summit 2026

New Delhi, March 19Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday called on global investors to participate in India’s rapidly evolving power sector, urging them to “make, invest, innovate, and scale” in the country as it advances its energy transformation.
In a written message delivered by Union Power Secretary Pankaj Aggarwal at the Bharat Electricity Summit 2026, the Prime Minister highlighted India’s position as the world’s fastest-growing major economy and emphasized the country’s readiness to expand its energy capabilities.
“I invite the global community to make in India, innovate in India, invest in India, and scale with India. I am confident that this summit will catalyze meaningful dialogue and enduring partnerships to power India’s growth,” Modi said.
Bharat Electricity Summit to Drive Collaboration Across Energy Ecosystem
The Prime Minister noted that the summit aims to bring together stakeholders across the power and energy ecosystem on a single platform to exchange ideas, strengthen collaboration, and define a shared roadmap for growth.He said the initiative reflects a collective effort to accelerate electrification, enhance sustainability, strengthen global connectivity, and advance India’s vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
Renewable Energy Milestones and Future Targets
Highlighting progress in clean energy, Modi stated that India has already achieved over 50 percent non-fossil fuel capacity. He reiterated the country’s commitment to reaching 500 gigawatts of non-fossil capacity by 2030.He also pointed to global initiatives such as “One Sun, One World, One Grid” as part of India’s broader vision for international cooperation in energy.
Focus on Supply Chains, Green Jobs, and Energy Reforms
The Prime Minister underlined India’s emergence as a reliable energy partner, with efforts underway to build resilient supply chains, expand battery manufacturing, and generate green employment opportunities.He added that recent policy measures are enabling investments and opening new avenues across the sector. The SHANTI Act 2025, he said, is creating opportunities in nuclear energy, while the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is promoting distributed generation and sustainable energy consumption.
Power Sector Reforms Strengthening Efficiency
Modi emphasized the importance of reforms in the distribution segment, noting improvements in reducing aggregate technical and commercial losses and strengthening financial performance in 2024-25.These developments, he said, signal a more efficient and sustainable power sector with opportunities across the value chain, reinforcing India’s position as an attractive destination for global investment.
