Hindalco Industries Limited, a flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group metals division, announced all-time high financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. The company reported record consolidated revenue and profit (PAT), driven by strong performance across its operations in India and the recovery momentum gained by Novelis.

The Consolidated EBITDA reached a historic high of ₹ 14,989 crore, marking a 73% increase year-on-year. Quarterly Net Profit stood at ₹ 7,013 crore, which is up 75%. Revenue from Operations surged to ₹ 84,825 crore, representing a 32% growth over the previous period.

Management noted that the milestone performance was achieved through favorable macroeconomic conditions and strategic focus on resource security, premium product innovation, and operational excellence across all businesses.

Key Business Segment Highlights​

All three core business segments—Aluminium Upstream, Copper, and Novelis—achieved record quarterly performance.

Aluminium Upstream: This segment reported an all-time high quarterly EBITDA of ₹ 7,390 crore, a rise of 81%. Quarterly upstream revenue stood at ₹ 13,403 crore, reflecting a 44% increase. The business maintained robust margins, achieving 55% EBITDA margins, and the Aditya Smelter Phase 2 project is on track to commence metal production in FY28.

Copper: Despite planned major smelter maintenance, the Copper segment delivered record quarterly EBITDA at ₹ 918 crore, a 36% increase. Revenue for copper stood at ₹ 17,232 crore (up 16%), even as metal sales decreased by 16%. The company noted that its Copper Tubes and Inner Grooved Tubes plant is fully operational and scaling up.

Novelis: Novelis recorded a 37% improvement in Adjusted EBITDA, reaching $516 million from the previous period. This improved profitability was attributed to the successful restart of the Oswego hot mill and accelerated benefits from cost optimization programs. Bay Minette plant commissioning is currently underway, with commercial shipments expected in Q1 FY28.

Management Perspective and Operational Focus​

Satish Pai, Managing Director at Hindalco Industries, highlighted that every business segment contributed meaningfully to the record results. He noted that Aluminium Upstream achieved all-time high EBITDA, while both Copper and Aluminium Downstream delivered record quarterly EBITDA, demonstrating the strength of their diversified model.

Pai stated that the company continues to expand upstream capacities across alumina, aluminium, and copper. Key downstream projects advancing include Aditya FRP, battery foil, battery enclosure, and Inner Grooved Tube. These investments aim to position Hindalco as an integrated global metals company with a balance of upstream capacity and downstream value addition for sustainable growth.

Sustainability and Operational Updates​

Hindalco Advanced several sustainability initiatives during the quarter:

  • Renewable Energy: A 65 MW round-the-clock renewable energy project was operationalized at Aditya Aluminium, making Hindalco the only company in India with an operational captive round-the-clock renewable energy plant.
  • Waste Management: The company achieved 80% overall waste utilization in Q1 FY27 and advanced the first bauxite residue-based quarry backfilling initiative at Dalla stone quarry in Uttar Pradesh.
  • Water Conservation: Water recycling across operations increased to 29%, up from 27% a year prior, supported by advanced tertiary water treatment.

In addition, the company planted approximately 80,000 saplings during Q1, bringing cumulative plantation to 6.34 million trees.

Hindalco Industries Limited climbed today after market close, finishing up 3.17% higher at ₹1059.60. The metal giant saw strong trading activity, with over 9.28 million shares exchanged during the session.
