Ahmedabad, April 21, 2026: The Gujarat economy is positioning itself as a global industrial powerhouse, aiming to achieve a $3.5 trillion economy by 2047 under the ambitious 'Viksit Gujarat @ 2047' roadmap. Chief Minister Bhupender Patel, addressing the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) National Executive Committee meeting, highlighted how the state is capitalizing on national initiatives like Digital India, Make in India, and Startup India.

The address, held at the 100th-year celebration of FICCI in Ahmedabad, emphasized Gujarat's role in realizing the 'Developed India' vision. CM Patel noted that the state's proactive policies have established a compelling blueprint for sustainable development, garnering praise from industry leaders present.

Charting the Path to $3.5 Trillion Economy by 2047​

Chief Minister Patel highlighted the massive scale of Gujarat's economic contribution to India. He stated that the state leads the country in several key metrics, contributing 8.3% to the national GDP, 18% to the national industrial output, and 27% to the country's total exports.

This robust economic base underpins the 'Viksit Gujarat @ 2047' initiative. The roadmap aims to guide the state's economy to an impressive $3.5 trillion mark by the year 2047.

The Chief Minister praised the central government's vision for 'Viksit Bharat' and affirmed Gujarat's role in adapting this blueprint into a state-level actionable plan. He stressed that this journey is fueled by visionary leadership and a commitment to large-scale, sustainable development.

Semiconductors, AI, and Green Energy: The Engines of Growth​

To achieve its ambitious targets, Gujarat has strategically focused on emerging, high-growth sectors. These include the semiconductor industry, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Green Growth.

The semiconductor sector, in particular, is receiving a global boost. CM Patel pointed out that two semiconductor plants, inaugurated by the Prime Minister in Sanand, are set to make Gujarat a crucial part of the global semiconductor supply chain.

Furthermore, the state's infrastructure is deepening its technological edge. The presence of an AI Centre of Excellence, data centers, and fintech hubs in GIFT City is strengthening the state's position across various modern sectors.

Policy Driven Success: Making Gujarat a 'Most Favourite Destination'​

Gujarat's success story is attributed significantly to its policy framework. The state is lauded for its proactive policies, including the Gujarat Semiconductor Policy, IT and ITES Policy, and GCC Policy. These policies have established Gujarat as a 'most favourite destination' for global industries.

Patel informed the audience that currently, 100 companies from the Fortune 500 list operate within Gujarat. He also stressed the adoption of the 'Woman-Led Development' concept, leading to the launch of the 'Her Start-up' platform to promote women-owned enterprises.

Industry Collaboration: Strengthening the Ecosystem for Future Growth​

Industry representatives echoed the sentiment of growth and collaboration. FICCI Chairman Anant Goenka praised the state government's pro-active policies, calling them a model for other states.

Goenka emphasized the crucial synergy between the state government and the private sector in driving economic transformation. FICCI expressed eagerness to work hand-in-hand with the state government to boost investment in manufacturing, services, and digital public infrastructure.

FICCI Gujarat State Council Chairman Gokul Jayakrishna further highlighted Gujarat’s critical role as a hub for startups and green energy. The Chief Minister concluded by expressing anticipation for FICCI's active cooperation to build the vision of 'Viksit Bharat @ 2047,' embodying the motto: 'Sano Saath, Sano Vikas, Sano Vishwas, ane Sano Prayas' (Togetherness, Development, Trust, and Effort).
