Gland Pharma Appoints Deepak Sapra as Chief Executive Officer​

Gland Pharma Limited has announced the appointment of Mr. Deepak Sapra as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The company confirmed that this appointment is effective from November 16, 2026, following a Board approval based on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee.

Mr. Deepak Sapra joins Gland Pharma Limited bringing extensive executive experience in the pharmaceutical sector. He is identified as a seasoned business leader possessing 27 years of executive experience, with over 23 years spent in the pharmaceutical industry.

Currently, Mr. Sapra serves as Chief Executive Officer - API and Services at Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Limited (DRL) and holds a position as a Board Member of Aurigene Pharma Services. In his present role, he is responsible for the global portfolio strategy within his organization. He leads an integrated B2B business that encompasses generic pharmaceuticals, CDMO services, APIs, collaborations and alliances, public health initiatives, and global patient access.

Mr. Sapra's professional scope spans key markets including the United States, European Union, Japan, Brazil, China, Mexico, the Middle East, and emerging markets across Africa. He possesses a track record of driving revenue growth and market expansion in business development, licensing, M&A, and portfolio creation across various regions, including India, the United States, Europe, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific.

His expertise covers the entire pharmaceutical value chain, which includes CDMO partnerships, generics, APIs, sales and marketing, international business management, supply chain management, R&D, operations, and public health access-led partnerships. Prior to his current executive role, Mr. Sapra served as Chief Executive Officer - Custom Pharmaceutical Services, leading a global CDMO business that catered to innovator pharmaceutical companies in the United States, Europe, and Japan. From 2011 to 2015, he held senior leadership positions such as Vice President - Global Generics Business Development and Senior Director - Global Generics Portfolio Management.

Mr. Sapra holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Railways Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Jamalpur, and a Master's degree in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. He is also recognized as a recipient of the Chevening Scholarship at the University of Bradford, UK, and a Fulbright Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA.
